Use green cleaning products. Instead of petroleum-based cleaners, go for products that are non-toxic, biodegradable and are made from renewable resources. Plant-based green cleaners usually have pleasant, natural oils like coconut or palm kernel. For allergy sufferers or people with sensitive senses, you can find many fragrance free cleaners. You know that these natural cleaners won't harm you or damage your home's surfaces.

Improve the air in your home. The chemicals in many cleaners can damage your skin or senses. Then there is also the presence of microscopic dust and other allergens that float around in your home. Typical air fresheners like sprays and candles can sometimes make problems worse. As an alternative you could choose natural air sprays or even boil a pot of some of your favorite spices or herbs. Baking soda is a very good option. Sprinkle it on carpet as you vacuum to create a very fresh, crisp smell. If you want an air filter, Peace Lilies are pretty to look at as well as being good air purifiers. So are other plants with broad green leaves.

Keep your floors thoroughly clean. It's often most difficult to keep your floors clean. You may not even realize the number of chemicals and unhealthy substances that can be tracked into a home. You should puts a mat at each doorway you use to help remove some of the dirt and other things. An even better way to alleviate the problem is to institute a no-shoe policy indoors.

There are a number of other cleaning tips that are both eco-friendly and you-friendly. Substituting soap and water for antibacterial cleaners and disposing of harsh cleaners properly can be a good start for more green cleaning. Seek out some green websites and articles if you want to learn more.

No matter how green you are or want to be, there are many steps you can take to make a difference in your life. The key to green cleaning is to know what substances are coming into your home. It only takes a bit of work to make your home clean and more green.
