subject: Black Lab Named Skye Beats Out Other Pups Like Teddy To Win Pup Idol [print this page]

Over the weeks readers had the chance to cast their vote for their favourite four-legged pooch and believe us, this was was not an easy thing to do because each of the puppies submitted was absolutely gorgeous and irresistible.

There were many entrants such as young Teddy from London who charmed the voters. But in the end it was the nine week old black Lab Skye who lives with her owners Karen and Dave in Waddington, Lincoln who won it all. Skye was adopted by the pair after they lost their beloved hound dog named Sam, which left their other dog Teal feeling lonely and depressed. Karen and Dave did not expect to bring home a puppy the day they went to meet Skye, but those big blue puppy eyes melted them and she ended up coming home the very same day.

For winning the contest, Skye was awarded with a one year's supply of dog food from Pets At Home. Skye and her family are doing well and the dog's owners report that even though their dog is full grown now, she still manages to get herself into a bit of trouble chasing neighbourhood cats and digging up the flowers in the garden.

The Labrador Retriever is a large dog that was originally bred for retrieving fishing nets from the sea. As the breed evolved, it was later used for hunting birds and other small game. Labs are loving and kind dogs who are very loyal to their owners. Labradors are commonly used by police all over the world for their detection and working abilities.

If you happened to miss the contest in The Sun , you can still enjoy the photos of the beautiful pups by looking through the Sun website archives. Better luck next time to all entrants and until then he's wishing you lots of warm and sloppy puppy kisses!
