subject: The Sun's Pup Idol Contest Was Huge Hit On The Web [print this page]

Following the wildly popular television show Pup Idol, The Sun ran its own doggy contest online in which readers could send in photos of their puppies in order to compete for the title of Pup Idol, which awarded the winning pooch with a one year's supply of dog food. On the TV show, the dogs featured were being trained from pups to grow up to become operational police dogs. Online however, the Sun offered the photo contest as a way for proud pup owners across the UK to show off their four-legged pooch pals wherein readers had the chance to vote each week for their favourite. The Sun staff chose the cream of the crop from the many entrants received each week, which were then voted on by online readers until finally a top dog was chosen.

Skye, a black Labrador won the coveted honour of being named Pup Idol but that does not mean that he did not have any competition because quite frankly, it was close throughout the entire contest. Readers found it tough not to give top marks to adorable puppies such as the Sharpai, and Husky mix named Diesel, or beautiful little Talulah, who struck a pretty pose that melted the hearts of everyone lucky enough to catch a glimpse of her.

The response online was overwhelming as tens of thousands of faithful readers signed on to cast their votes for the week's cutest pooch. The winning prize of a year's supply of dog food was generously provided by Pets at Home. If you have a puppy, be sure to snap some terrific photographs of him or her so you will be ready to enter your precious pup in the next version of Pup Idol sponsored by The Sun. In the meantime, log onto the internet and check out the archived photos of the most recent entrants!
