subject: Snow White Keido The Samoyed Won The Hearts Of Many In Top Pup Contest [print this page]

. Ten week old Keido was one of many posing pooches hoping to win a top score in the online vote during week two of the contest which offered the grand prize of a year's supply of dog food, courtesy of Pets at Home.

The Samoyed is characterised by its fluffy white coat and their smiling faces and was used to help herd farm animals, pull sleds and to keep their Siberian owners warm at night by sleeping on top of them. The Samoyed is a vital breed and if well cared for, this dog can live to be twelve to sixteen years old. Being a working breed, they have excellent stamina but without daily movement, this dog will easily become bored which can lead to destruction or excessive barking. This canine is not aggressive, so they do not make good guard dogs but rather, make ideal family pets. They will instinctively herd and when playing with kids, will often try to turn and move them in a different direction. The Samoyed needs daily brushings, so if you are not into grooming this breed's not for you.

Although pretty little Keido did well, after several weeks running, the title of Pup Idol was awarded to Skye, a pure-bred Black Lab. The contest was very popular as hundreds of proud pup owners sent in snapshots of their furry friends. You can still see all of the adorable little tail-waggers by logging onto the Sun's website. If you missed the contest this time around be sure you are prepared for the the next running of Pup Idol by taking gorgeous photographs of your irresistible puppy, so your little dog can be named the UK's top pup in Pop Idol
