subject: Wider use of ICT will make teaching and learning lively and fun to boost up interest [print this page]

If we look at the problem from the other side and try to meet the needs of your children instead of considering your wants, we may have more success. He/she needs to interact and play. Play-based education and child-centred teaching would appeal to him/her and motivate him/her to study. As a parents you have no control over how your children are taught at school, but do not make the mistake of employing a tutor or sending your children to a tuition centre where the same teacher-centred, assessment-based programme is used. Look for a place which encourages interaction between the students and their teachers. Find a course which enriches the students, rather than repeats the kind of resources being used in school. Avoid worksheet papers. These tests do not motivate students, but rather waste time that could be spend in a more stimulate way. Nurturing an experimental spirit in schools can develop an innovative spirit, and ICT opens many opportunities for this to happen. We are preparing students for the future, and they must equip the habits of learning, and re-learning .
