The Tillman Story Movie Poster

A new poster of The Tillman Story has been released. The poster of the upcoming documentary shows the concerned face of Pat Tillman colored with the US flag colors.

Pat Tillman (himself) was a person who did the right thing at all times. He was a person who made decisions for the well-being of the others and hence never put himself first. He even decided to leave a multimillion-dollar professional football contract and join the military because he felt it was the right thing to do.

He may have been good and genuine with people, but one cannot really expect that in return. Why I'm saying this is because, losing his life in a fire incident in Afghanistan in 2004 which seemed to be a tragic death may not have been that in reality. His death seemed manipulated.

The Tillman Story comes from a very young crew with little exposure in the film industry including director Amir Bar-Lev (with his only other movie, Fighter (2001)) and writers, Joe Bini, Amir Bar-Lev and Mark Monroe.

Amir Bar-Lev's "The Tillman Story" is a riveting account of how a soldier's death in Afghanistan was spun into a web of public lies. When pro football star turned post-9/11 Army enlistee Pat Tillman was killed in the course of duty, the embarrassing actual circumstances were covered up and turned into a flag-waving story of heroism that the Bush administration happily -- and knowingly -- used for propaganda purposes. The Tillman family's refusal to accept the official story led to disgraceful admissions -- yet, so far, no repercussions for those who perpetrated the lie. Theatrical, broadcast and further fest exposure are assured.

Told much more via straight reportage than Bar-Lev's fascinating "My Kid Could Paint That," "The Tillman Story" mixes talking heads and archival footage into a detective story of escalatingly scandalous proportions. No matter one's political bent, the blatant misconduct by grunts, senior officers and politicos alike is terribly disturbing.
