If you are doing things right you should have fun doing your exercise routine. But sometimes fun just isn't enough. If you are pushing yourself then your body gets exhausted and you will find it difficult to move on. Zoning out means that you mind is elsewhere while you exercise. It's not paying attention to the workout because it's busy doing something completely different. Basically you take your mind off the physical activity. The are two very popular ways to do this. One is that you listen to your favorite music. Not just any music, it has to be your favorite. And you need to listen to it, hum along or even sing along if you are alone (or you could sing along "in you mind"). If you don't have a portable music player you really should get one. Using it properly is the easiest and simplest way to take your mind of the workout. The other popular way is television. If you have a treadmill, stationary bike or some exercise equipment that doesn't require you to move around the you might want to put a TV in front of it. Watching TV is a sure way to make your mind busy with something else.
Now listen carefully; never rely on live TV or radio, never! If you start flipping channels all the time looking for something to watch you will become bored, your mind will start to feel the exercise and time will not fly. If you plan to workout with TV make sure that you do so when you know there is a program on that you want to watch, or better yet, bring your own DVD. The same goes with the radio, if they aren't playing music you like and keep interrupting it with commercials and talk, you will get bored.
