10 Important Mobile Safety Tips While Driving

Ever heard of someone who got into an accident because they were using their phones while driving

. I have, tons of times in the news, and even more times watching those TV dramas and movies. It's true, using phones while driving can cause accidents since they are a big distraction for the person who is driving. So as to avoid these accidents, here are a few tips for you to help keep you safe while you are on the road.

1. Get to know your mobile phone well especially when it's brand new. Learn about it's features such as the redial and speed dial.

2. Read the manual of your phone and make sure that you understand it, take advantage of the shortcuts that your phone has to offer you. Especially the auto redial on your phone when you need to call back. Memorise the keypad on your phones whether it be the qwerty or the standard one. By memorising your keypad, you won't need to put on too much attention on your phone and get more attention on the road.

3. Make use of hand-free mobile phone accessories like bluetooth headset, headphones, speakers and mic so that you won't have to take your hand off the wheel when answering or making a call.

4. When you are driving, place your phone in a reachable strategic location. Somewhere where it's easy to grab without you taking your eyes off the road. You may have seen tons of movies where people got into accidents or died due to reaching down to their phones or not really concentrating on the road while driving. Well, the same thing can happen in real life.

5. If there is an incoming call when you are driving, you can just always let your voicemail answer unless the phone is really important.

6. When you are in a rough road, snowy, slippery roads; or when there's too much snow, rain or bad weather conditions then suspend conversations and keep your eyes on the road.

7. Let the person you are talking to know that you are driving and that you will call them once you are in a safe place or in a convenient situation.

8. Do not take notes, look at messages or even text while driving. Splitting your attention between doing something else and concentrating on driving can put your safety in jeopardy. You should know the importance of common sense in these kinds of situations.

9. Assess the traffic before you dial numbers or make calls or texts. You can take some time to text or call when you are stuck in traffic or have pulled over already.

10. Avoid heated or emotional discussions while you are on the road driving. They are distracting and being too emotional can cause you to do dangerous things such as speeding up. When your mind gets distracted, you can't really concentrate on what you are doing as of the moment. Make the other person know that you are on the road and driving so that you can talk later.

Avoid roadside accidents and be a responsible driver with the help of these tips. When you have to deal with someone over your phone while you are on the road, stop and think if it is really important. Never even try to compromise safety while on the road.
