10 Simple Ways You Can Help The Environment

We should all be doing our bit to help the environment. Here are 10 ways that you can make a positive impact on the planet.

1. Turn off household appliances when you're not using them, particularly over night, and switch off lights when leaving rooms.

2. Don't let the water run when brushing your teeth. Instead, fill a cup of water to rinse out and turn the tap off at other times.

3. Don't overfill the bath or kettle when using them. Instead, use enough water for what you need and no more.

4. Make someone in the house responsible for recycling. Use recycling bags, wash out cans and tins, and don't put everything into the one dustbin.

5. Drive less and walk more when running local errands and you can save money for yourself while doing your bit for the environment.

6. When it comes to getting to work, use public transport over your car. Or, if you have to drive, see if there's anyone you can car pool with.

7. When you take something from the fridge, close the door until you're ready to put it back. That way, the fridge won't have to work as hard to maintain its temperature.

8. Plant a tree to help compensate for the paper products we use and together we can help save our planet.

9. Don't throw out clothes that are still in good condition. Instead, give them to someone who might need them, like a charity shop or a sibling.

10. Use energy-saving light bulbs and you can do your bit by reducing the amount of energy your home uses.
