Are you a multi-dimensional personality who is gifted with an inquisitive mind

? Perhaps you have invented something that is unique and useful. This no doubt leaves you full of joy. But even before the jubilation dies down, you are likely to be bothered with several disturbing questions. Here are some of them.

*Can your invention be patented?

*Is the concept really unique?

*How can you prevent others from cloning it when you start marketing the invented product?

*What procedures are needed to obtain a patent for it?

There could be many more of such disconcerting issues. The good news is that, you will be able to solve these puzzles. For this however, you will have to approach a professional patent attorney or patent agent.

Here Is a Ten Step Guide That Can Help You Get the Patent

*Step #1 - As soon as you think you have an accurate perception of your invention, put it in writing. Go into the details.

Mention how it helps in solving problems, the different components it is made up of, and also mention how each part or component works to give an overall effect. And don't forget to put dates against each item.

*Step #2 - This is where you need to hire a professional. The person will help you in patent drafting. The consultant will be needed for the filing of your patent application. But make sure that you have a 'non-disclosure' agreement ready and signed by the person before you disclose the details of your invention.

*Step #3 - You should now have a meeting with your attorney. Explain in detail about the unique features of your invention in this meeting. The person can never help you without a good understanding.

*Step #4 - An assessment is carried out on whether your invention can get the patent you want. The person will try to find out whether your invention comes under the government approved format or not.

*Step #5 - This is where the application will be drafter. Your patent attorney will do this keeping in mind the claims you are making.

*Step #6 - Here you will be making the actual patent application, and paying the fees.

*Step #7 - Now you are required to publish the patent application. But remember, you can do this only after a stipulated number of days from the date of application.

*Step #8 - The patent office will now examine whether your invention is patentable or not. The novelty aspect of your invention will be determined.

*Step #9 - The office submits its report. If there is a dispute regarding the novelty aspect, you can challenge it, providing valid grounds for doing so.

*Step #10 - Once all concerns are clarified satisfactorily, the patent is granted.
