1080p Video Excellent On The Motorola Razr

Previously we took a close look at the excellent camera facility that is incorporated in the superb new Motorola Razr smartphone

. This time it is the turn of the video capture feature. We take a look around this area of the phone and see if it matches the excellent quality offered by the still camera.

Just like the still camera the video facility offers a very high standard of resolution. The device can record footage at 1080P resolution which is also known as Full HD. This means that the camera record 1080 progressively scanned horizontal lines and at present there is no higher resolution available on a consumer recording device or television. What also impresses about the video quality offered by this model is that it manages to capture film at an incredible frame rate of 30 per second. This means that the final result is not only full of detail but also very smooth with none of the stuttered movement you may experience on lower quality devices. Such high resolution recording can be quite demanding on the storage capacity of the handset but luckily the Motorola Razr is well equipped in this area. The phone offers an impressive 16GB of internal storage which should prove ample for the majority of users. If you do find yourself running a little low on capacity you can also add a micro SD card which will expand the storage space available. The phone accepts cards up to 32GB in size meaning that there is a potential total storage of 48GB.

The Motorola Razr offers a user interface for video capture that is nearly identical to the still camera feature. The shutter button is located on the right hand side of the screen along with the toggle for front and rear cameras. A few things have changed within the settings menu however and the main one is the Audio Scenes option which replaces the Scene setting for the still camera. This facility enable you to adjust the sound settings for your film. Perhaps the most useful option here is the Wind Reduction mode which is particularly useful if you are filming outdoors. The microphone on the phone is more exposed than on a dedicated video camera and a slight breeze can have a dramatic effect on how your audio is reproduced. This mode helps reduce the wind effect my enhancing other areas of the audio so they appear more prominent than on other settings. The Razr captures stereo sound at a bitrate of 128Kbps and a 44.1kHz sampling rate which puts it alongside the very best models available for sound reproduction.

Multi media features on the Motorola Razr are certainly impressive. We loved the camera facility and the video capabilities have impressed us equally as much. High quality picture and sound is accompanied by a good range of settings that help you to achieve the best results possible.
