, it can be hard to decide what to go and see first, so, to help you out, here are the top 15 things to see before you die.
1. Tokyo, Japan
Located on the Eastern side of the main island, Honshu, Tokyo is a faced-paced, bustling city. Make plans to go see the guardians of the Imperial Palace, and the temples of Asakusa. Both of which are renowned for their historical significance and impressive beauty - making this one of the top cities to see before you die.
2. Machu Picchu, Peru
Machu Picchu is a 15th century Inca site located 2,430 metres above sea level. Often referred to as "The Lost City of the Incas", the space is composed of 140 structures including temples, sanctuaries, parks, and residences that include houses with thatched roofs. There are more than one hundred flights of stone steps, often completely carved from a single block of granite - definitely a place to see before you die.
3. Northern lights, Norway
In the Norwegian counties of Tron and Finnmark you can see the Northern Lights every other clear night. This light display is particularly prominent in polar regions and is caused by a collision of charged particles directed by the Earth's magnetic field. Usually observed at night, the Aurora Borealis moves across the sky in hues of green and violet. It is incredible to watch and without a doubt is something that you have to see before you die.
4. Taj Mahal, India
The Taj Mahal in India is one of the most beautiful buildings in the world, built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his third wife. Completed in 1653, it is now a world heritage site, and an iconic structure that has to be seen before you die.
5. The Great Pyramids, Egypt
The pyramids at Giza were built as tombs for the country's Pharaohs and are regarded as some of the largest structures ever built. Dating back to around 2558BC, these monumental constructions should feature highly on your list of things to see.
6. The Great Barrier Reef, Australia
One of the seven wonders of the natural world, the Great Barrier Reef is larger than the Great Wall of China and can be seen from space. Comprising of over 3000 individual reef systems, with some of the worlds most beautiful beaches, this is a sight that has to be seen.
7. Norwegian Fjords
Norway has the highest concentration of fjords in the world, carved by forty ice ages in the last 2.5 million years. These stunning inlets, with their steep cliff sides, make for some incredible scenery that just cannot be missed.
8. The Amazon Rainforest, South America
The Amazon Rainforest is a wet tropical forest covering 1.4 billion acres of the Amazon basin. Home to around 2.5 million insect species, 40,000 plant species and some 2,000 bird and mammal species, this jungle paradise has to be seen to be believed.
9. Victoria Falls, Africa
Located in southern Africa on the Zambezi River, the Victoria Falls are some of the largest in the world. The depth of the chasm ranges from 80metres to 108metres at its centre, and forms the largest sheet of falling water in the world. A definite must-see.
10. The World, Dubai
Located 4 kilometres off the coast of Dubai, The World islands are artificially created small islands in the shape of the world map, constructed from 321 million cubic metres of sand. With rumours that the Islands are now sinking back into the sea, you will have to act fast to see this incredible spectacle.
11. The Grand Canyon, USA
This steep-sided canyon in the state of Arizona is 277 miles long and up to 18 miles wide, carved by the Colorado River. Known as one of the planets most astounding natural features, the Grand Canyon is a place you have to visit.
12. The Great Wall of China
The Great Wall of China was originally built to protect the northern borders of the Chinese Empire against intrusions, and stands today as a must-see world heritage site. It stretches for a staggering 5,500.3 miles and cannot be missed.
13. Easter Island
Easter Island is a polynesian island in the Pacific Ocean famous for its 887 monumental statues known as 'moai' created by the early Rapanui people. The tallest one created was almost 10 metres high and weighed 75 tonnes. These astonishing figures have to be seen before you die.
14. Uluru, Australia
Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock, is located in central Australia. One of the most recognisable natural icons, the sandstone monolith stands at 348m high and measures 5.8 miles in circumference - making this one of the top places to see before you die.
15. Angkor Wat, Cambodia
Angkor Wat, a temple complex in Cambodia, is world's largest religious building. It was built as the King's state temple in the 12th century and still stands incredibly well preserved today - and absolute must see.
