3 Extremely Simple Steps To Create A Clutter-free Workplace
One of the biggest causes of procrastination is a cluttered
, disorganized workspace. After all, it's hard enough working up the motivation to sit at a desk and work all day. It's even hard when you throw a messy, disordered office into the mix. That's why a great way to stop procrastinating is to make the office feel clean, neat and comfortable. It might sound impossible, but it's not. Just follow these three easy steps to get a brand new clutter-free workspace:
1. Don't be afraid of the recycle bin (or the trash can, if necessary). Throw out old, unneeded documents that are piled up in desk drawers and filing cabinets. Go through paper mail and determine what is really important to keep. While it's important to file some of those papers away, most consumers keep paper documents long after they need to. And, sort through pens and pencils, if the pencils are worn out, trash them. If the pens no longer work, you'll want to throw those out as well. When you get rid of all the outdated paper and other things that actually belong in the trash, you'll be able to eliminate a lot of the clutter that takes up so much space in your office.
2. Bring in reinforcements like bulletin boards, desk trays or shelves. A wipe-erase or bulletin board is a great tool for displaying memos or messages because it provides one neat, organized place for everything. Making sure that any important documents, sticky notes or other memos have a home is essential to eliminating clutter. It also helps make room for new, more fun items like home dcor. When you get rid of all that paper clutter on your office desk, you will have room for things like flowers and pictures which makes the room a lit homier to live in as well as being more organized.
3. Once the office you have a clutter-free workspace, keep it that way. It's a lot easier to keep your office clean by simply taking a few minutes each day or even each week to toss out old documents, pens and pencils that are useless as well as getting rid of other things in your office that simply aren't necessary anymore. Because the office space will already be fairly organized, setting aside about 20 minutes each week to trash unneeded items will be easy and stress-free. Pay attention to which tasks seems to be the most impactful and which tasks can be put off for a bit. That way, maintaining a clutter-free workspace will gradually become a piece of cake!
By taking advantage of 3 simple steps like these, you will find that not only is making your work area clutter-free and net easy but keeping that way is easy too. All it takes is a recycle bin, a few extra reinforcements, and the motivation to keep it all going. Happy de-cluttering!
