Looking Spiffy With A Watch
Wearing a watch is a lot like wearing jewelry and in many ways watches are like jewelry themselves
. This is especially true if the watches are "flossed out", using popular Hip-Hop terminology, with diamonds and other precious stones. That aside watch-wearing, despite its popularity seeming to rise, sometimes looks like it has taken a backseat to mobile phones and MP3 players that have their own digital clocks programmed into them. However, it is kind of hard to see watches going away. People have been wearing wristwatches since the early 1900s - and watches themselves have been around since the 17th century - so I doubt anything digital will ever truly replace the craftsmanship that went into the design and manufacturing of watches.
I am a fan of watches myself and I wear one every single day, especially when I go out. The only exception to this is if I am at the gym or taking a run in the park. I would prefer not to take a risk at damaging or outright breaking my watch either through my own carelessness or someone else's. Watches are expensive and for very good reason. The best watches on the market are exquisitely designed to ensure the accurate keeping of time and engineered with the highest quality materials available so that it will last a very long time. And since watches can make a strong fashion statement when worn with the right outfit, incorporated into the overall design is whatever trend or trends are in line with what customers are clamoring for. This can mean colored bands; leather bands; watches with big faces; square faces for a more professional look and so on.
Like I mentioned earlier, I like to wear watches. I have one for everyday use and another for dressy occasions. I only bring out the dressy watch for going out on dinner dates and the like because I want to be flashy without being too much. It is an all polished steel watch with a medium-sized face; I got it a couple of years before the big-face watch trend hit but it still looks good regardless. Whenever I do wear it I always get compliments, either from the person or persons I am with or from complete strangers; I always get a kick out of that.
Like with wearing the latest suit, pair of sneakers or dress shoes, wearing a watch serves a fashionable purpose as much as it does a practical one. Shouldn't it be about time you start wearing a watch around?
