3 Things You Need To Do If You Want To Land A Job
Want to learn a dream job ? Or just trying to get any entry-level job
? Those 3 simple things will greatly help you when you'll send out your applications to your potential employers. And before we get started - realize that you are unique ! You have your own life - you overcame hurdles, you achieved amazing things. Right ? See ! You are unique.
So - the first thing you need to do is : show how unique you are.
1. Rewrite your resume.
Try something less classic - dare a little bit more. Think about your travels and your experiences. Think about all those small advantages that could add-up to lead the recruiter guy select you upon another candidate. You speak fluently a foreign language - very well ! And Im sure its already in your resume. But what if you speak a little bit of French, Japanese, Chinese or even Swahili - you just know how to introduce yourself and how to ask a few things related to daily life. Did you mention it in your resume ? I bet that most of you did not. Well - you should. It will show how open-minded you are, and how curious and eager to learn about different subjects you are.
2. Rewrite a cover letter.
Are you sending a cover letter with your resumes yet ? If you are not : big mistake and this is the first thing you should work on, even before thinking of rewriting your resume. If you are : congratulations. This is something you have to do if you really want the job : again, send a cover letter along with your resume. You should always send a cover letter when trying to get a job.
But remember - your cover letter is not another resume. It is an opportunity to express yourself - to talk about what you, most of us do that very naturally all the time - and to show your employer a little bit more and a little bit of proof about your writing skills and your capacity to promote yourself. If youre able to promote yourself correctly - he thinks. "Then youll be able to promote the company."
3. Work on your appearance and self-insurance. Now. Not only when you get an interview.
Are you used to wearing suits ? Do you like it ? Or do you prefer to wander around in jeans and t-shirts ? Well - in any case, practice. Wearing a suit is not easy when you are not used to it. And if you are not used to it - it will make you seem ill-at-ease and out of place when youll try to land the job. And thats the last thing you want. So - next time you go buy groceries, wear a suit. Yes, itll seem strange at first. Yes, youll look like a businessman. Yes, thatll be useful.
The same thing apply for your general appearance. Work on it. You might not only find a job by sending out applications to thousands of employers - you'll also have plenty of opportunities to find a job if you constantly network and meet new people. And when it comes to networking and meeting new people - then you have to look good !
Look good - and be self-confident ! Remember. You are unique. You deserve the job !
