4 Million, Iphone 4s Already Sold, Only 1 Week Take

Apple today proclaimed they have sold over 4 million of their new iPhone 4S

, just three days after its launching on October 14. Moreover, more than 25 million customers are already using iOS 5, the earth's innovative mobile OS, during the first five days of its release, and most 20 million customers have signed up for iCloud, a breakthrough set of free cloud services that automatically and wirelessly store your data in iCloud and push it to all your devices.

The beginning reaction was tepid at best, yet iPhone 4S pre-orders started out hot. Apple announced last week that more than one million phones were pre-ordered in the first day of availability on October 7, far exceeding the 600,000 that the iPhone 4 did when it launched on AT&T in June 2010. With Verizon on board at this phone's launch and Sprint added as the new carrier in the Apple's latest device had a big opening weekend.

"iPhone 4S is off to an excellent begin with more than four million sold in its first weekend-the most ever for a phone and more than double the iPhone 4 launch during its first three days," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. "iPhone 4S is a hit with customers across the world, and together with iOS 5 and iCloud, is the best iPhone ever."

Don't take anything away from Apple, but bear in mind the circumstances are much different. This phone launched on three carriers instead of the iPhone 4 initially being offered only on AT&T. Despite that model coming to Verizon earlier this year, there could have been many who ignored it and opted to hold back for the next model believing it might be revealed and then released in June as the past several models had been.

iPhone 4S comes in either black or white which is available in the US for a suggested retail cost of $199 (US) for the 16GB model, $299 (US) for the 32GB model and $399 (US) for the new 64GB model. iPhone 4S is available from the Apple Online Store, Apple's retail stores and through AT&T, Sprint, Verizon Wireless, and select Best to buy, Target and Walmart stores and select Apple Authorized Resellers. iPhone 4 is available for just $99 (US) and iPhone 3GS is available free of charge with a two year contract.
