*** Do Not Quit Smoking! Click Here *** Today, cigarette smoking is the number one preventable cause of death in the United States and yet millions of people are still lighting up on a regular basis. While the habit may be extremely difficult for many of us to kick, becoming an ex-smoker is a very attainable goal. If the numerous reports, on the many dangers of smoking such as a various forms of cancers, heart disease, emphysema or chronic obstruction pulmonary disease (COPD), aren't enough to convince you to finally become serious about quitting this deadly habit, here are four more real reasons to help motivate you stop smoking once and for all. 1. Smoking Makes You Look Older In addition to feeling older, smoking also makes you look older than your chronological age, and you'd be hard pressed to find a person over 21 who wants to look older than they really are. However, smoking makes this happen and it not only causes wrinkles to form prematurely but it also causes the entire body to age faster. Over 4,000 chemicals are taken in with each breath and these harmful substances circulate in the blood reaching nearly every organ in the body. You wouldn't take a bath in toilet bowl cleaner, but that's exactly what you are doing to your organs when you smoke; bathing in harmful chemicals like ammonia, arsenic, acetone and benzene. 2. You, Your Home and Your Car Smell Like Cigarette Smoke Yes, it's really true. If you smoke, your home, your car, your clothing, and your hair, all smell like stale cigarette smoke. Think of all of the money you will save on dry cleaning bills! Your home and car will also retain better value when by not smoking in them. In fact, you should do a thorough cleaning of your car and home when you quit (carpets, window treatments, bedding, car mats, etc.). With the smell being gone, that's just one more trigger removed. 3. Smoking Increases Your Risk of Becoming Seriously Ill from H1N1 (swine flu) As if everything else wasn't more than enough reason to stop smoking, here's yet another more serious one to add to the ever growing list. Smoking increases your risk of developing pneumonia. With the global pandemic of H1N1 (swine flu) reaching record numbers, quitting smoking may be a critical step in helping you reduce your risk of developing a serious illness. Since smoking damages your lungs, it makes it easier to get a deadly infection like pneumonia. Second-hand smoke also increases your risk for pneumonia. So, you may also be putting your family and friends at risk by continuing to smoke around them. 4. The Body Starts Healing Itself Immediately After Quitting Smoking With all the ill effects, grim reports, and dire statistics regarding smoking it's hard to find something positive to mention on the subject. However, the good news is that the human body actually begins to heal itself immediately after quitting, giving you a second chance to become healthy. Just a short 30 minutes after the your last cigarette, the body's temperature, blood pressure, and pulse all return to normal, healthier limits. Lung capacity increases, circulation improves, energy increases, and within only 24 hours, the risk of having a heart attack also decreases. In as little as five years, your risk of stroke returns to that of a non-smoker. Cigarette smoking certainly has the potential to cause irreversible damage. However, no matter what your age or how long you've been smoking, quitting will definitely improve your quality and length of life. It's never too early OR too late to quit smoking.About the Author:
