Cable comes with an unavoidable high cost, and this is the first and biggest reason people look for a way out of cable. By the time that you pay install fees, rental on equipment, programming, fees for extra channels, tax, and then the primary cost of cable you are in over your head in costs. It is not unheard of for people's cable bill to be more than one hundred dollars a month. That is rediculously expensive for what averages to about two hours of tv per day. All that cost, for approximately sixty hours a month. That means that you are paying almost two dollars per hour of television you watch. Most of the people looking for alternatives to cable are doing so based just on this problem, but that doesn't mean it's the only one.

Reason 2

As a subscriber to expensive cable you would think that there would be an excellent customer service system in place. Most of the time this is not the case. Of all the times you have called customer support, how often was the person on the line an unhelpful grump? Maybe not every time, but often this is the case. For the price I used to pay for cable, it is unacceptable for customer support to be that bad. If I call in because my cable is acting up, I do not want to hear about how a technician can be there next week on Tuesday or Wednesday between the hours of 10 am and 6 pm. Why do the cable companies think it is alright with me to have to wait around my house all day? This is truly unacceptable. When I need to downgrade my service to a cheaper package, I do not want to be sold on upgrading to a more expensive package deal. These are the issues that get people like me to leave cable companies. These are the things that are sending people to search for an alternative to cable.

Reason 3

For all the high costs of cable you would think that the actual service would be top notch. You would never expect or accept bad signals, malfunctioning equipment should be almost unheard of, and freezes in the broadcast should never happen. All of these issues have been a reality, and that is unacceptable. For the expense of cable, service problems are exceedingly high. This is often the final straw for most people. The inconsistencies would be bearable if the price was not so high. Problems might not be such an issue if customer support was not so aggravating. Subscribers pay a premium for the service and when there is a problem it is difficult to get it taken care of.

Reason 4

People everywhere are searching for a way to get away from the cable and satellite companies because they know it exists. Online is where they will find it. The online program is often cheaper than a cable bill for a single month. It is called tv on pc, and people are flocking to it. It includes thousands of channels and you can even watch live sports.
