4 Tips On How To Design Your Website Layout
The way a website looks is as just as vital as the content
. A good looking website aims to attract viewers and keep them interested in you, the services or products you are offering. A chaotic or overloaded website may put people off, as it looks over cluttered and unfriendly to use. It often detracts from the content too, dominating the page, rather than complementing the content as it should. On the other hand, an overly simple page can look boring and unremarkable, in turn not leaving an impression on your viewers as it should. So heres a few handy tips that can help you design a unique but working layout.
(1)First of all design your theme. You know what your website is about, now you need to present the images and colours that go with the subject. Also think about how the colours and images could revolve around your heading - you should try to make this stand out as its the first thing viewers will see and it says exactly what the website is about through words, images and colour.
(2)Next think about how the content flows naturally. Work with how much content you have and any natural segmentation. If your website has lots of information, present it in an orderly fashion in sections, rather than just one chunk of text. It will help break up the text making it appealing to viewers. Not only could you split up text by subheadings, but by images too. Of course, keeping a variation between the two will make the website overall more interesting and attractive looking.
(3)You may have already considered theme colours, which can be based around the subject, products or logos. Have a look at your logo, pick any colours that you think would look good on the page and would complement it. Remember, sometimes contrasting colours work well when put together, so you dont necessarily have to match your page to the logos colours. Also take viewers into account as you choose the colours, as you want colours that will attract them but are readable. For instance, contrasting colours for background and writing often work together best if the dark colour is on a lighter background. When the other way round, it is simply just not that visible.
(4)Next decide upon how the navigation bar is going to look. How are you going to organise it? Are you going to have it at the top or at the side? How are you going to make it stand out from the rest of the page? Through colour, font, italics, or underlining? Think about how you would also make links stand out too.
Once you have drafted your final copy for your website layout (you can just sketch it), you can then begin to create your website. This, you can do yourself or hire a professional web design company for.
