5 Incredible Nicolas Cage Films On Michigan Satellite Tv

If you look back at the career of Nicolas Cage

, you can really break it down into two parts. There is the blockbuster Nicolas Cage and the committed, unconventional Nicolas Cage. As one might expect, there are some incredible films in the latter category and but only a few in the former one. Fans got to know Cage as the bizarre character in Moonstruck and the fascination continued throughout his great run in the 1990s. Here are five incredible films of Cages to check out on Michigan satellite TV.

1. Vampires Kiss. Want to have a lot of laughs and see Cage at his most unhinged? If so, Vampires Kiss is the ticket. There a few a few different ways to interpret what happens in this movie, but in the end, you can just sit back and enjoy one of the most hilarious films of the past quarter-century. Cages Bela Lugosi walk is classic; his sleeping arrangements in his living room, hysterical; and his treatment of his secretary both terrible and very funny. Dial this one up On Demand on Michigan satellite TV.

2. Moonstruck. For his first major role, Cage pulled out a great deal of tricks as the disabled, melancholy character who steals Chers heart. Its a classic Brooklyn tale from beginning to end, one that doubles as one of the great romantic comedies of the modern era. If you are a fan of the Cage blockbusters like National Treasure, this picture will give you a very different look. See an HD screening on AMC.

3. Leaving Las Vegas. After pulling off this role, none could doubt the power and the talent of Cage. He gets in deep with his performance as an alcoholic spiraling out of control in Vegas. His girlfriend has been through some rough times, as well, but nothing stacks up to the overwhelming depression and despair of Cages character. Director Mike Figgis and costar Elizabeth Shue were also nominated for Oscars.

4. Wild at Heart. David Lynch needed an actor who could do a good Elvis impersonation, sing and also be a menace to society on some levels. Cage seemed like the perfect fit to play opposite Laura Dern in this Wizard of Oz-inspired picture, with Lynch once again playing the right card. From his showdown early on in a mens room to his clash with a pack of roving thugs, Cage is a heavyweight personality in a thrilling movie. Check this one out on IFC in high definition.

5. Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans. To top the spacy, possessed performance of Harvey Keitel in the original Bad Lieutenant would have been something, so Cage wisely chose to go the manic, psycho route instead. His drug addiction and bad relationship choices go a long way to helping him reach that ultimate bottom. Check out this film as it debuts on Michigan satellite TV.
