Go with something you know - Are you familiar with the FTSE? No? Common sense dictates that you should avoid betting on something you are not familiar with. Start spread trading on companies you can hear and interact with on a daily basis - study the movement of the share price and how news affects the daily movements.

They also have the statistics you don't have about users bets and what traders bet on. This means that you might find attractive spreads on markets that appear attractive for you but in fact this is the company's attempt to draw you to place a bet on something you know nothing about.
