6 Natural Hair Loss Treatments And Prevention

The most common type of hair loss is called male pattern baldness

, also known as hereditary alopecia or androgenic alopecia, meaning it is more common in men and is usually inherited. In this condition, hair is lost from the crown and temples and is often replaced by a more fine, downy type of hair. Female-pattern baldness, a variation of hereditary alopecia, can also strike women, especially after menopause. The incidence of female-pattern baldness is on the rise. Common causes of hair loss for women are hormonal and related to pregnancy, menopause and thyroid conditions. Birth control pills and HRT (hormone replacement therapy) can also cause temporary hair loss in women. It has been suggested that over-handling hair can cause hair loss as well as damaging processes such as bleaching, dyeing and perming.

Hair loss can be an incredibly embarrassing problem. It is a condition that affects more people than is generally assumed, some as young as teenagers. The good news, however, is that there are hair loss treatments that are extremely effective and do not involve traditional medication methods, but that are rather natural hair loss remedies. Many individuals who follow a natural lifestyle prefer the organic base of natural remedies. Best of all, natural remedies are readily available, easy to mix and use, and lack the unwanted side effects often associated with other forms of hair loss treatment.

1. A study published in the Journal of Dermatology examined the effectiveness of onion juice or placebo in people with alopecia areata. Twenty-three people with alopecia areata applied the onion juice twice daily for two months, and 15 people applied tap water twice daily for two months.

2. Aloe Vera-This plant has been proven to balance the pH level of the scalp, clean the hair follicles, and heal irritated skin. Applying the gel or liquid of this plant directly to the scalp can help activate two of the enzymes in the body that are responsible for normal hair growth.

3. Henna is claimed to help heal hair follicles and increase hair growth. As henna seals the hair cuticle it makes hair stronger and more resistant to breakage and loss of shine. Simple scalp massage treatments without essential oils include coconut milk, almond oil, olive oil or aloe vera gel. Rinsing hair with a mix of apple cider vinegar and sage tea can also aid hair growth.

4. The combination oil was a mixture of thyme, rosemary, lavender, and cedarwood essential oils in a mixture of carrier oils (jojoba and grapeseed). This oil was massaged into the scalp daily. The control group used only the carrier oils for their massage, also daily.

5. Rosemary and sage-These two herbs can be boiled together to make a rinse that promotes hair growth. After steeping strain the water form the herbs and use it as a rinse after shampooing. The rinse will help stimulate hair follicle production and end extended resting phases in the hair growth cycle. This is one of the best hair loss treatment.

6. Exercise is important to improve nutrient absorption and can aid in combating stress. Yoga is advised to relieve stress and relax muscles to encourage good blood circulation. To increase blood flow in the scalp, end shampooing with a cold water rinse and massage. Reducing damage to hair during styling is an excellent way to prevent loss of hair. Stop or minimise chemical treatments, heat styling, using harsh products, excessive brushing and tight hairstyles.
