We see it every day with hundreds of MLM companies, distributors quitting the business and letting go of their dreams of owning a business of their own. In this article, I touch base on the 7 reasons why people fail in MLM.
First and foremost,MLM is A Business.
Yes MLM is a real home based business. An income producing opportunity therefore should be treated as such and not as a hobby.Spending 2 hours a day 5 days a week is not going to cut it. If you feel as though you can't miss your favorite reality TV show to grow and expand your business maybe having a business of your own is really not for you.
MLM is a business of commitment and determination. That means you will have to sacrifice much of your personal time towards it.Treating your business as a hobby will only end up being a hobby but with NO pay. And that's not fun.
Lack of Leads
You've joined a business, you have all the materials and products to get started. Now what?
As a distributor it is your job to generate a number of leads to your business. Leads are simply another name for interested prospects. Without em' you're just as good as dead.No leads = No sales.
Without leads you're not in business For Yourself, you're in business By Yourself.
There are many free strategies you can use or you can also opt to buy them but remember they are the lifeblood of your MLM business. But yet many distributors take no action on learning how to generate them. It is your responsibility to make sure you have plenty of them.
The Product
There is no way around it. MLM = sales. It's how you get paid. The more products you can sell the more commissions you create. The more people you recruit into your business the faster your company will grow.But here is the thing. You don't want to promote something people simply don't want or need, especially if they can find a similar product with the same quality at their neighborhood Walmart.
Be sure to align yourself with a MLM company that promotes a product or service that can truly improve the quality of someone's life, not just your own.
Lack of Commitment
People can get real excited by the financial opportunity involved with MLM and often forget the great deal of commitment and time that's required. Some distributors expect to become an overnight success.Well believe me,there is no such thing as being an overnight success. And if you think there is, you should quit now! Don't waste your time.
MLM is not a GRQ Get Rich Quick scheme. It will take time for your business to grow and flourish. It may take you 2 months or 2 years, the gap will vary from consultant to consultant and the commitment one brings to the business.
Lack of Training
This has to be THE top reason people fail in MLM.
Way too many people who become involved with MLM almost never receive the proper training necessary to actually have a real chance at success.For example, they never receive the training to conduct follow up calls, how to handle prospects objections, what questions to ask and why they should be asking them.
When it comes to marketing, network marketers need to know the best techniques to promote the product and business.
It is not going to matter if you have to best product in the world, without marketing, your business goes nowhere. Extensive training in these two areas is critical. It would be pointless to join a MLM business opportunity that doesn't provide it but yet many people still do.
Finding Your "Why"
Starting a Home Based Business can be very exciting but even of though you may have the right product with the right company, there is another important factor that plays a big role in your success. That is your WHY?
Did you Join an MLM to make money?To meet new and exciting people?To improve your quality of life?To provide more for your family? Or did you get into MLM to give back to society?Your "WHY" will always be there to push to you. It will always be there to remind you to get to work. If helping your friends and family get out of debt is your why, make sure they can see it. The way for you to show it is by providing them value.
One of my favorite quotes is by Zig Ziglar which states;"You can have everything you want in life if you just help enough people get what they want".
This statement holds true. But you can only do this if you have something of value to offer. Besides your product, besides your business opportunity what can you offer to society?
Having a true "WHY" will help you in turn helping others achieve their dreams.
Procrastination
MLM as a whole is one of the best home based business opportunities to get into.But you cannot make the business grows by just merely looking at it.
Action is required.
I've seen way too many network marketers always getting ready to get ready, trying to analyze everything they do before getting started. What they don't realize the longer they wait the less motivation they have which can lead to no desire to ever start.
If you're waiting for the right to get started they time is now.Forget about failure, forget about being rejected, forget about perfection, there's no such thing. Forget about what people may say or think about you. Who cares?Take the steps necessary to move forward. Remember this is YOUR dream. Do not let procrastination kill it. No one else is going to do it for you but you.
