The study of aging, or gerontology, has identified some of the habits and characteristics of people who live well beyond the average. Actual, verified cases of people who have lived beyond 120 years have been documented and researchers have been working to identify what made these people different.

When you go to your high school reunion it's pretty easy to spot people who look great for their age and other people who look much older. Aging isn't something that can be defined strictly in terms of the calendar. People have a chronological age and they also have a "real" age.

If you want to stay in the "younger than you look" category, there are several well known ways to get there.

8. Maintain a sense of worth and purpose in life
