98% Of Mozilla's Revenue Comes From Search Engines Cooperation Agreement

Mozilla announced on Monday that the company's revenue in the last year

, through Google and other search partners, increased 19% to 98% of its total revenue.

Last year, Mozilla got $ 121.1 million of revenue through the cooperation with Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and other search engines, an increase of 19.3% compared with the $ 101.5 million in 2009. It represents approximately 98% of the total annual revenue, nine percentage point of increase compared with two years ago.

According to Monday's earnings report, Mozilla's full year revenue of 2010 is $ 123.2 million, an increase of 18.1% compared with $ 104.3 million in 2009. But the growth rate is only half of 2009, which is 34%.

However, same with the last year, Mozilla has not announced the specific income obtained from each search engine. However, seeing from the previous data, the majority of the company's revenue comes from the cooperation with Google. It was 88% in 2008. However, as the Chrome browser developed by Google and Mozilla's Firefox browser, compete with each other, it is a big risk for Mozilla.

Mozilla and Google's contract will expire in the next month, but Mozilla did not say whether Mozilla will renew the contract. The analyst said the contract with Google is the biggest contract. The agreement will expire in November. In the foreseeable future, we believe that the search cooperation will continue to be a solid source of income for Mozilla.

The analyst said that Google is unlikely to give up the contract with Mozilla: "The contract is to improve the visibility of Google through the browser. Firefox continues to occupy a large market share and it is worth the investment. I do not think to stop cooperation with the Firefox can bring any help to Chrome.

According to several market researches, Chrome is expected to surpass Firefox by the end of this year and become the world's second-largest browser. Chrome's market share of global browser in September is 16.2%, while Firefox is 22.5%.

Mozilla also pointed out that the company's revenue in 2011 will contain some donations of very important personal and corporate. Mozilla's last year's tax return lists a number of similar contributions, including a $ 735,000 donation and a $ 175,000 donation. But Mozilla did not disclose the identity of donatign personal or business. The analyst said that in the foreseeable future, we believe that the search cooperation will continue to be a solid source of income for Mozilla.
