A Claims Process: What Is It?

, most of the courier businesses these days need to rely on the goodwill they hold in the market to generate a growing business. This goodwill is won or created by a sustained level of commitment to the customer in the form of reliability and trustworthiness, which is a product, continued timely delivery of items, delivering items in a sound state, providing tracking sight at the delivery and providing adequate insurance coverage.

All the Atlanta delivery services, like many others in the United States, such as courier and shipping businesses, provide their customers some form of insurance or loss or damage redemption assurance. This is necessary because customers are the owners of the items being couriered or shipped and they have the right to the items' well being. The insurance coverage or redemption policies are utilized to settle financial loss that a customer faces in case he or she receives a damaged parcel, a wrong delivery, a lost package or for a very late delivery due to the mistake or mishap of the courier or shipping company's personnel.

Therefore every shipping or courier company needs to redeem their customers if the items being carried get damaged, lost or destroyed. The terms and conditions, which are usually stated at the back of the slip containing a reference number, usually dictate the agreement and policies the company is willing to be bound by; upon a customer's signature a customer consents to it. However, courts and insurance companies are two other factors that determine the ultimate reimbursement of any loss or claim.

In case a situation arises where the customer faces a material loss, he or she should approach the company and inform the personnel of the problem, in which case the company will direct the person to fill some sort of paper work, i.e. the customer lodges a claim for damages. At this stage the practice of each company would differ; either they will accommodate the customer internally or direct them to their insurance company. Similarly if the matter is paltry such a late delivery when service opted was quicker, the responsible personnel may reimburse an amount of the fee charged.

If the matter is of large material amount, such as those encountered in shipping of containers, matters of a claim would be settled inside a courtroom as stakes are very high at each end. It is because of these hassles that the entire industry practices extreme caution and care.
