What one does for a living strongly affects their happiness and well-being. Many people do not land their dream job and are often unhappy in their field of work. Many times, people will gravitate towards a job field because of the potential income earnings, or if the aforementioned job field is in demand, which gives an implication of job security.
That is a tremendous mistake that people make when choosing their job. The job ends up becoming an onerous, mundane, repetitive drudgery, due to dissatisfaction with their job choice. I will explore whatever options are necessary to view all potential career paths. My initial choice was meteorology, due to my lifelong affinity for the weather, and all weather related phenomena. However, I have found the math classes required to be exigent to the extreme, many hours of studying were required to merely obtain a decent grade. Additionally, I came to realize that not only the college math would be demanding, but the employers would be very demanding, because a meteorologist is required at the weather station at all times, and the pay would be mediocre at best.
After taking that into consideration, and discussing with my advisor, I went through with it and consummated the change in my major, from meteorology to a creative writing field, due to the fact that I have always shown an interest in writing, especially creative/fictional writing. During my youth, I would regularly concoct stories of fiction that I typed out on the typewriter. A tremendous advantage of a writing field vs. a meteorological field is the lack of time constraints. You choose your own work hours and it is your volition whether you decide to work that day or not, but you are more likely to work nearly everyday, because you enjoy your field of work, and there is no need to kowtow to the employers demands, because the one who keeps you employed and motivated is yourself, and yourself alone.
As you can see, it is very important to carefully decide upon the
college major that best suits your plans. Dont look at a career path based on money, prestige, or because it resembles something you have an interest in as a hobby. The money and prestige cant buy you happiness, and the hobby ceases to be entertaining once it is transmogrified into an obligation. Choose your career path based on what you will enjoy doing for a living, and college is designed to prepare you for your chosen career path. Look at your enjoyment of the requisite classes as a barometer for whether or not you will enjoy the career path.About the Author:
