A Comparison Between Heated And Non Heated Carpet Shampooers
A carpet shampooer is used for cleaning relatively soft surfaces
, such as mats, carpets, and seat upholstery. There are various models of carpeting cleaning systems available on the market currently. There are many ways to classify these machines. One of the popular methods to categorize these machines is based on the output temperature of the machine.
Heated and non-heated machines
As per the output temperature classification, there are two kinds of machines, heated and non-heated. Heated machines provide heated output, while non-heated machines provide cold water output.
There is one significant hardware difference between heated and non-heated carpet shampooer machines. Heated machines contain a heating coil that supplies the heat energy required to raise the temperature of the output. On the other hand, non-heated machines do not have a heating element.
The comparison between heated and non-heated carpet shampooer machines is as follows:
Cleaning power
Heated carpet clean machines are more efficient than non-heated machines. Hot water machines provide an output temperature of up to 210F.You have to understand how a carpet shampooer works, to figure out the real significance of the difference in output temperature. These machines work by pre-spraying the carpet with a cleaning solution before using the carpet clean system. The surfaces to be cleaned are then allowed to soak in the mixture for some time.
This process gives the cleaning agent sufficient time to work on the surface. The function of cleaning agents is to disrupt or weaken the bond between dirt substances and carpet surfaces. Once the mixture gets sufficient time to act on the surface, cleaning workers agitate the surface with the wand attached to the commercial carpet cleaners. The agitation is vigorous, which leads to the accumulation of dirt residues. The final step is the extraction of these dirt residues by the heated carpet shampooers.
The efficiency of a carpet extractor depends on three factors, which are the power of the output, quality of the cleaning agent, and power of agitation. In the case of non-heated carpet cleaners, the first factor will be virtually absent. In the case of heated machines, all the three factors contribute to the cleaning power of the carpet extractor.
It has to be noted here that you can increase quality or quantity of the other two factors to compensate for the absence of one factor.
Drying time
Drying time is as important as the cleaning power in the case of cleaning mats and carpets. Ideally, a mat or carpet should dry up as early as possible. The earlier a surface dries up, the better it will be. Heated carpet cleaners fare better here as well.
Most of the modern carpet cleaning machines are equipped with low flow technology, which limits the quantity of output injected into the surface without limiting the cleaning power of the machine. Heated carpet cleaning machines transfer only low quantities of water. As a result, the mat and carpet surfaces dry up quickly.
Overall, the commercial carpet cleaners with heated output are the better machines. However, the cost factor favors the machines with cold water output.
