A Easy Guide To Redecorating With Nautical Bedding Sets
When decorating with nautical bedding decor you may think you limit yourself regarding color
. This style of decorating, however, has a wide array of color choices. Blues, greens, white, reds, browns, the colors possibilities are limitless if you use your imagination. What do you wish to accomplish in the space by your color choice?
When deciding on your basic palette there are a couple of things to consider. If one struggles with insomnia, adding red may not be a wise choice. The color red evokes aggression, which may aggravate the insomnia problem. The typical blue and green often used for this style of bedding, however, evoke peace and calm.
Begin by choosing your theme. Will you choose a lighthouse theme, sailing, beach scenes or maybe a tropical theme? With any of these
nautical themed bedding choices, you will want to choose your primary color scheme and add your accents from there. Your accents may be added with your furniture, curtains, art work and accessories.
After you have chosen your theme and primary color choice, decide how saturated with the theme you wish your space to be. For example, if you have chosen a lighthouse theme will you have the lighthouse motif on the nautical bed linens itself or will you have a more simple style. If you choose to use the lighthouse theme on the bedding you may not want to use any other lighthouse accessories in the space as it may become cluttered. The clutter may not allow for restful nights.
Decorating with a tropical theme will widen your opportunity for other color choices. These other choices may include oranges, pinks, yellows and more. Think of the perfect tropical destination and the types of vegetation that may grow. Take your lead from that picture and you can create and exciting vacation setting.
Regardless of what theme you choose, accenting with wood deepens the palette. A sailing theme would typically use a honey colored wood, which evokes a feeling of warmth. The tropics on the other hand tend to use the dark woods which are rich in color. A beach themed decor often times use white washed woods or a driftwood color. Any of these choices will heighten the color experience.
Keeping in mind what other activities are done in this space begin to envision the atmosphere you wish to create. Today many people have their office in their bedroom or an entertainment area, possibly a library. If any of these other activities are performed in this space, you my wish to take that into consideration when deciding on colors. If you enjoy reading after a long day at the office, using the more serene blue and green may be the direction you wish to go. If you have your office space in the bedroom and need to have high energy to perform your office duties, using a more bold color palette may be wise. No matter the theme or palette you choose be sure you choose based on your sleeping needs as well.
