A Few Little Tips To Remember Before Edinburgh Festival

Before you get caught up in the whirlwind of excitement that precedes any festival

, let alone Edinburgh, take a few moments of your time to actually think about what you"re going to be doing. I"ve been to so many festivals without taking the time to form any proper preparations and, from my experience, I don"t recommend that you do the same. Whether you"re staying at the Murrayfield Hotel, or just camping, then there will still be a lot of things that might not have thought through very thoroughly. Here"s some for starters:

Don"t lie in all day long

Get up early. As much as that doesn"t sound like much fun, trust me, it will be worth it. If you"re a snooze button-addict, then I"d recommend downloading a free app for your smartphone that offers an alarm clock with the luxury of snoozing. It"s tough love, I"m afraid, but you really need to be up hours before everyone else to make the most of Edinburgh Festival. Of course, there will be plenty of other people who"ll do the same, but they will certainly number a lot less than the ones who choose to party all night long and pay the price in the morning. Don"t be left with the scraps and leftover acts; get up, get in and get the best.

Leave your comfort zone

Whilst I said earlier than you shouldn"t make a strict itinerary, I think it"s still important that you have rough kind of plan in mind. You might be a comedy connoisseur like me, in which case you might also be a little shy of the dance side of things. Well, like your mother always used to tell you, you must always try new things. If you never left your comfort zone, you"d be stuck with the same interests forever. Get out there and do something crazy!

Remember to book your accommodation early. If you don"t want to be stuck in some rain-sodden tent that"s being devoured by the inevitable quagmire, then I"d suggest you book super, super early, especially if you want to stay in any Princes Street hotels Edinburgh tempts you with.
