The first thing that you are going to have to do is to really sit down and think about what the word 'rich' really means to you. For some this will only mean being a millionaire but this is not realistic for most people. Being rich can be so many things but for many it will simply mean being in a financially safe and secure position and generally being happy with your balance of life.

For more, becoming filthy rich is not going to be a viable option and they are more likely to want to be realistic in their chances and simply create a decent level of wealth. In this vein, one of the first things that you have to do is to start saving immediately. If you are able to put aside 10 to 15 per cent of your money each month then this will accumulate well over time.

As such you have to make sure that you resist temptation when it comes to big payouts for things that you may not need. If you do not have the money for it, then buying that dream car at this stage is not going to be the best move. Perhaps down the line but not now. Avoid these sorts of grand expenses with things that are only going to depreciate fast, unless they are good investments that are likely to grow over time.

It is also a good idea to make some basic lifestyle alterations as well. You should look at how much you spend on random things and tabulate this each week and month to see what you could save if you did not spend this money. For example, those who drink and smoke are lot are more of less pouring money down the drain and this could easily be adding to your savings pot as well.

Last of all, get married. This is something that you cannot really control and it is not something that you should do in order to become wealthy - particularly if you are only looking to get married to someone who is already wealthy. However, if you are in a happy relationship then pulling your incomes is a great way to become more financially secure.
