A Frightening Skin Condition Named Eczema

The medical word known as eczema is usually related to irritated and inflamed skin

. There are many types of eczema and one of them is atopic eczema/atopic dermatitis or baby eczema. Eczema is a common thing among many infants and is rare among adults. Eczema can be outgrown or can persist throughout the life. This may be a feared condition but there are still ways to get rid of eczema.

Continuing itchiness is one of the common symptoms of eczema. Rashes will come into sight after the itchiness. Rashes on the other hand can appear on wrists, hands, feet, face and many other areas. Scaly and dehydrated is the common look of the affected body parts. Eczema can also cause pigmentation to the affected area. People with light to fair skin will have reddish or brown pigmentation. While on dark-skinned individuals, affected area may be darker or lighter, depending on the circumstances.

The occurrence of eczema is unknown. Reports says that the likely cause of this is that the immune system becomes more active to irritants. And such responses lead to eczema problems. Another common victim of this skin disease is a person with family members who experienced asthma attack or allergic reaction. People build up rashes because they create contact with materials that are allergic. Animal hair, sudden change of temperature and even contact to harsh substances can create problems to an individual.

There is no possible treatment for eczema. When it comes to how to treat eczema, only the symptoms can be treated. Basically, the goal of treating and relieving the symptoms of eczema is to prevent infection. The most common and recommended treatment are creams and lotions that keep the skin moist. These products should be applied after taking a bath in order to preserve moisture. Some anti-eczema products are also used in treating itchiness and redness caused by eczema. If you want other remedies other than the non-prescription products, then you may also try some home remedies for eczema.

A person should not be afraid if someone he or she knows has this dreaded problem. The reason for this is that this condition is never contagious. Therefore, a person with eczema will not affect other person. Pediatrician and dermatologist are the only authorized personnel that can tell if a person has chances of developing eczema. The medical expert may conduct a test to know if there is a developing eczema.
