At the University of Nottingham, we are aware of the changing nature of global society

With already existing and newly emerging challenges facing both the natural and social environment, our Faculty of Engineering is dedicated to researching the new technologies and processes that will become a part of the way in which we all live, travel and interact during the coming decades. Recognising the changing frontiers of technology, our research divisions are inter-disciplinary and international, and we welcome applications from the most creative and innovative students from all around the world.
The Faculty of Engineering hosts six newly established research divisions:
Electrical Systems and Optics; Fuels and
Power Technology; Infrastructure and Geomatics;
Manufacturing Research; Materials, Mechanics and Structures; and Process and Environmental. Each research division hosts a number of research groups and centres that allow us to respond quickly and efficiently to emerging global and multi-disciplinary issues around the field of engineering. All of our research divisions offer a range of prime opportunities for potential doctoral work at PhD level with additional research opportunities for MPhil, MRes and New Route PhD programmes. We also offer a number of post-doctoral research positions and prestigious fellowships.
With a Faculty that has been designated as world-leading' in its research activities, the University has been classed within the top 1% of universities throughout the world. Substantial experience and valuable expertise means that the teaching and research are of the highest quality, with 180 academic staff and over 200 research fellows. The Faculty's undergraduate and postgraduate body holds students from over 150 countries, a testament to the dynamic international focus of our department.
The International Students Bureau is an organisation in the University that is run by international students. With all-year-round cultural, social and sporting events and activities, the vibrant community of international students in Nottingham is well catered for and has established a reputation as one of the largest and diverse community of international students in the United Kingdom.
