Significant Factors Affecting The Ultimate College Choice.

The educational system of any country at the present moment of time is designed in

such a way that it does not provide equal opportunities for all students to choose the college they like. In addition, the performance-based system ensures different entrance criteria that help to rank colleges, to ensure diversity of skills and fair conditions for all students according to their individual skills and characteristics. However, not only the high school performance and cost of educational programs are decisive factors in college choices. As it has been statistically found out, there is a set of secondary factors that at time play a key role in the students choice.

Secondary Factors for College Choices.

1. Location often matters much in choosing a college; while some students are ready to sacrifice their time spent with relatives and friends for the sake of high-quality education, others have difficulty in parting with their native environment. Thus, they may choose a worse college because of its proximity to home.

2. College environment also plays a role in making college choices; the length of the educational program, the college setting and size, sex of students (male, female or co-education) may also affect ones choice.

3. College expenses and financial aid are highly significant for the majority of enrollees. Such factors as tuition, room in the dormitory, application fees and financial aid percentage in the college may seriously alter ones decision about the college.

4. Some other factors may include the freedom of religious activities, cultural diversity of the college, campus visits and activities, recreation and leisure organization etc.

It is important to keep track of all factors, as the availability of major ones and complete absence of secondary ones may seriously spoil the initial opinion about the college and affect the students willingness to study there.
