Acts 10:38: see how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and power
, with strength and ability and power; and how he went about doing good... I love that. Jesus was anointed with Holy Ghost power and what did he do with it? He went about doing good and, in particular, curing all who were harassed by the devil. Jesus was interruptible. There are times when I won't be interrupted. When Im having my morning prayer time, you better have an emergency if you interrupt me because I've learned if I'm not steadfast on that, the devil will steal it from me every day.
I've learned if I'm trying to help somebody for four years and they're still not helped, then they don't want to be helped. They're just wasting my time. Sometimes we spend our time trying to help people who really don't want to be helped. We want them to be helped but they don't want help. We want them to change but they don't want to change. I don't see Jesus doing that. Jesus helped the people who were ready for help. He said to the man who lay by the pool crippled for 38 years: are you really serious about getting well? We don't need to waste our time on people who really don't want help but there are people whose lives can be restored and we can love them into wholeness. Love finds a way; indifference makes an excuse. A reporter interviewing people on the street approached a well-dressed, successful-looking man and said:
What are the two most pressing problems in America today? And the man said: I don't know and I don't care. Joyce Meyer Ministries stated that the reporter replied: you are absolutely correct. Those are the two most pressing problems: I don't know what the problems are and I don't care what they are. In other words, I don't want to know; please don't disturb me. Indifference is the attitude that prevails in our culture. Too many justify their lack of concern and involvement with excuses. Go to Luke 14. I want to say it again: we can't just sit around and be religious. We have to be the real deal. We have to touch people who are hurting and we have to care. Do you know a lot of Christians go to church every Sunday and they can't even be nice the rest of the week.
