A Positive Approach to Article Marketing—It Begins By Building Trust

Winning the Trust of Your Readers is No Easy Task

Many years ago, at a seminar somewhere or other, I remember the speaker saying, "When you tell people NOT to do something, most of them will do it anyway. If you want something done, avoid any negative mention of the subject, use a positive approach."

We Are Flooded With Negativity Every Day

So how does this apply to article marketing? It's simply this some psychologists say that most people tend to want to be positive in all that they do. We are attuned to all of the negative crapwe hear it day in and day out. It's on the radio, TV and around the office water cooler. Doom and gloom. The economy is in the toilet. More lost jobs this week. We may already be in a depression.

Just like the majority article marketers I have fallen victim to the flashing websites:

"Here's a plan that is guaranteed to produce tons of cash overnight."

"Order my report and fill your bank account in just a few days

"This is totally new! Something you have never heard of before!"

"Only 234 copies are available and they will be gone in minutes. Order now!"

Been burned by the flashing lights?

How many of these "flashing lights, shiny objects and glitzy websites" gave you hope that this is for sure what you need to get your online marketing in gearonly to discover it was just the same old rehash of what you already knew, or it was too complicated to figure out, or you simply could not afford it?

The best things in life are freebut article marketing isn't

Article marketing is touted by many e-book writers as the means to make a solid living online and you can do it all for fr'ee! This is a lot of hype. You get what you pay for. Psychologists say that stuff you get for free usually results in a cavalier outlook by the recipient. You read it, say "ho hum," and look for something else.

One of the biggest lies we hear from all too many Internet marketers is that you can get rich beyond your wildest dreamsand it will not cost you a cent. BULL! If that is true, then why do they start spamming 3-4 times a day in an attempt to induce you to buy yet another hot product. Over the July 4th weekend one of the World's top gurus sent me the same email 15 timesone after another!

Separate the Good from the Garbage

So how do you separate the good from the garbage? Ahhh, there's the rub. I learned from bitter disappoint that I can trust only 3-4 affiliate marketersfrom the dozens that hammer me constantly with e-mails. I hope you will check out the one I recommend below.

This chap is a white hat, straight shooter, and the report I recommend is one I bought at full list priceeven though I could have saved money by ordering through my affiliate link. To methat's cheating. I bought the course and have relied on its message. And by paying full price I am more determined to get my money's worth. And so far I have!

Over 5,100 visits on one article directorynot bad for a beginner!

Does this tutorial really help? In my case it has been invaluable. "Turning Words Into Traffic" has resulted in my gaining over 5,100 visits at just one of several article directories I post on. And my click-through rate as of today on this one site is 14.3%. And I am selling products.

So it comes back to one word--TRUST

So why should you trust me? Any real relationship has trust as its basis. So far, what have I done to instill trust? This single article only gives you a glimpse of me. Try this, "Google me, Don Penven, and see what you get. If something negative comes up, please let me know.

Trust is something that must be earned, and I hope to do that by passing along to you and others useful information.

You have heard the expression, "The money is in the list." Well I don't have a list. Unsolicited e-mail is an intrusion into my life. Every day I get e-mails from people I never heard of, nor did I "opt-in" with them. They bought or borrowed my address from some unscrupulous marketer that promised not to do that.

So keep at it. You may be just millimeters away from success

So in keeping with my original idea in this article I will not blast you with a lot of "Do Nots." Rather, I will conclude by saying, "Do keep working at it." I have been an article marketer for nearly 10 months and every day begins a new adventure.
