A Resolution For The Times

So often, at the end of each year we look back to determine the lifestyle changes we wish to make moving into the new year

. Since we tend to trust hindsight more than any other visionary aspect, it is interesting to note that #1 on the list of the top ten New Year's resolutions is to "spend more time with family and friends". On the whole, this is an excellent goal and one worth pursuing.

On the other hand, instead of following the common wisdom of the day which encourages us to go to a nice restaurant or take a family trip, I have a more cost effective idea on how to accomplish the same goal. Let's resurrect a tradition from the moth balls of our minds, and invite family and friends into our home. It can be exciting, very enjoyable and allow for quality time together without imposing any outside time constraints. The final result is a way for you to meet with your circle of friends and family on your own time, in your own home and relaxing in comfort.

As we spend time at home with friends and family, this can lead to some very interesting conversation as ideas and opinions are exchanged. If you decide to make it a game night, now you can expect to add hilarity to the mix. Whether you prepare a full dinner, or provide hors d'oeuvres and refreshments, or simply invite the guests to bring a little something to share with everyone, a good time is sure to be had by all. Being a host can be a great deal of fun and provides everyone a chance to come together in an atmosphere that is relaxing and welcoming.

Be careful not to fuss too much with the preparations. Remember that the idea here is to enjoy the evening along with everyone else. Less fuss, more fun!
