. The Gratia is a handset never really aimed at the very high end, instaed pitching itself perfectly at the mainstream smartphone market, where its compact design and great set of features should make it a sure fire hit.

The main thing to consider when looking at this new model is compactness. We know HTC can produce great screens up to 4.3", however they have reigned things back with this model and offered a 3.2" display. Still giving a high quality image thanks to the HVGA resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. Although notably less than the WVGA screens found on larger screens, the smaller measurements helps the display maintain clarity, with a variety of sources all looking good. The phone features a proximity sensor which locks the screen during a call, however this also allows the unit use the flip to mute function. If you recieve an incoming call you do not want to take, just turn the phone over after looking at the screen and place it down on a surface to silence the call. Like many HTC models, the Grati sports a clickable Optical Trackpad, this offers the users a little more precision than using the capacitive touchscreen, especially for tasks such as editing complex emails. The four familiar android keys are located around this trackpad, but these are capacitive buttons rather than physical ones.

The HTC Gratia comes supplied with a 1200mAh battery which gives users around 400 hours of 3G standby time and approximately 5 hours 50 minutes of talktime. The user experience encountered when using the Gratia is great thanks to the perfect blend of the reliable Android Froyo operating system coupled with HTC's own Sense user interface, which makes using the fun both functional and fun. The Leap View for example gives a simple overview of all seven homescreens, rather than making you scroll through each individual screen. Excellent intergration between the handsets phonebook and social networking sites is available. Not only does this make the transfer of data simple, it also presents you with a lot more information when checking a contacts details. No longer is it just a case of name and number, but updates, photographs and e mails are displayed amongst other information.
