A Short Guide To The Top Five Cities In Spain
Spain is one of Britains most popular holiday destinations; with its close proximity
, sweltering summer heat and beautiful beaches this comes as no surprise. In fact if you head down to the Costa del Sol or the Costa del Brava you may even be hard pushed to find a Spanish local. It has become a common occurrence for Brits to pack up their bags and leave behind the rain for the blazing sunshine of the Costas.
So, if you are interested in getting away for a while and soaking up some rays then we have just the thing for you; here is a list of our top five cities to visit in Spain:
1.Barcelona Number one and two on this list may be a little obvious, but we cannot stress enough how fascinating and awe-inspiring these cities really are. Barcelona has literally got everything that you could ever want: beautiful weather, unbelievable beaches, stunning Gaudi architecture, an abundance of art galleries and museums, the legendary Las Ramblas, incredible food and even an impressive nightlife. If you are just going to visit one city in Spain then Barcelona really is the one to go for.
2.Madrid No surprises with number two and just like in football these two cities rivalry could not be any more fierce. Madrid is a city that mixes the old with the new, the young with the old, it is a true melting pot of cultures. It has everything Barcelona has to offer. One thing that must be done is the tour of the royal palace, a truly breath taking piece of architecture.
3.Malaga The fifth biggest city in Spain, Malaga is an up and coming tourist haven. Located on the south coast, the weather is unbelievable. Most visitors would happily spend a week sunning themselves on the perfect beaches.
4.Granada Another prime example of a beautiful Spanish city. Granada is best known for the Alhambra, a group of fourteenth century palaces and gardens situated atop a hill over-looking the city. It truly is like something Walt Disney would draw, imagine Jasmines palace in Aladdin.
5.Valencia An incredibly vibrant city, with a lot going on. Often amidst some sort of party or festival, with music, dancing and celebrating the order of the day. Valencia is a fantastic alternative to visiting Madrid or Barcelona, but do try and organise it so youre there during the festivities. Las Fallas in March is a good one to be a part of to truly understand how the Spaniards enjoy a good time.
