Madrid is a magical place to visit. There is so much to do and there is never enough time to do it all. There are certain things that really must be done in order to experience what Madrid is all about: watch a bull fight, do some flamenco, go see Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, eat Tapas, the list is endless. However, the most important thing is that in amongst these activities you ensure that you see all the things you need to see.
So to make things a little easier, in a bid to ensure you make the most of your trip to Madrid here is a list of the top five things that you must see during your stay:
1.Royal Palace This is the biggest building in Madrid, something that becomes clear when you get anywhere close to it. The building is astonishing both on the outside and the inside. So once you have taken your time to look around the outside, make sure pay the price and get the tour around the inside of the palace. Not only will you see some wonderful things you will also learn some fascinating history about Madrid and the country as a whole.
2.Puerta Del Sol This is a site that will not take much finding and will probably end up the focal point of more than one day in the Spanish capital. This is the central square in the city sporting everything that you could ever need, there is also some wonderful architecture in the square that can take a while to take in.
3.Debod temple This landmark is something that a lot of people will not be expecting to find in the middle of a bustling capital city. A 2nd century Egyptian temple that was moved over to Madrid brick by brick to avoid it being consumed by the river a Nile. A truly fascinating feature of Madrid.
4.Madrid cathedral Like most cathedrals this is a stunner. A relatively recently built structure in comparison, with the building not being finished until 1993, however it is still the only Spanish cathedral to be consecrated by the Pope.
5.Puerta de Alcala This giant stone gate is built at the entrance to independence plaza in Madrid. The design is incredibly similar to the world famous landmark, the Brandenburg gate in Berlin. Like so many other structures in Madrid this is a stunning piece of architecture which has been around since the 1770s.
