A Short History Of Hawaii And Hong Kong

Hawaii is a holiday resort admired for its paradise islands and rich cultural history

. The tourists are attracted to revisit again and again. On the other hand, Hong Kong is famous for its expansive skyline and deep natural harbor. It is situated on the south coast of China surrounded by the Pearl River Delta and South China Sea. It is a special administrative region of China.

The beaches of Hawaii are famous surfer havens that are frequented by international surfing champions. There is also a chain of fearsome volcanoes because of its location in the Pacific. Hawaii is also rich in natural resource like coconuts, bananas and sugarcane products. Kanaka Maoli people are the pride of Hawaii, they are a warm and happy group who managed a kingdom even before the British colonized them.

The population of Hong Kong is quite high and it is one of the most densely populated areas of the world. It is known as one of Asias most excellent financial markets and it ranks as one of the most successful and important financial, cultural and communications hubs in the world. Majority of Hong Kong is composed of mainly Chinese inhabitants. Although Hong Kong is also known for its multinational atmosphere but few expatriates of all nationalities also reside.

Hawaii was one of the last places to be discovered by the new world because of its isolation from the rest of the world. Captain James Cook discovered Hawaii in 1778 when he along with his crew came across a group of islands very far north in the Pacific. The islands were named Sandwich Islands and many Americans and Europeans explored the islands after him.

Hong Kong was used by the British for trading opium among other commodities in the mid 1800s. The British had occupied Hong Kong in 1842 under the Treaty of Nanking and they established a Crown Colony. A 99 year lease of Hong Kong was obtained by Britain and it remained under their control for 99 years till 1997.

World War II had bad effects on Hong Kong and the civilians suffered enormously throughout the invasion and occupation of Hong Kong. Conditions improved after the war because of the arrival of migrants from the mainland of China due to the Chinese Civil. Today, Hong Kong is ruled under the principle of one country - two systems.

Hawaii was annexed with and Statehood in the United States and it became the 50th state of America. Following the statehood, Hawaii quickly turned into a modern state with a boom in construction and rapid growing economy.
