A Taste Of Local News In San Diego

We all know that we can get thousands of tidbits about hundreds of stories pertaining

to local news in San Diego just about any time, so it can take up a lot of your time on the Internet scouring the news for stories that you are interested in. As is probably no surprise to just about anyone, some of the most talked about stories involve political figures in and around town. In fact, you can always find some local news in San Diego about Bill Horn if you wanted to. He has been in office for 15 years, and there always seems to be chatter about his so called shenanigans that have been brewing and boiling in that decade and a half.

So the local news in San Diego regarding Bill Horn started in November of 1994 when he was elected to the San Diego County Board of Supervisors. A year and a half later in March of 1996, he voted against an ordinance that would require gates around swimming pools. Of course he made many enemies because of this, and his argument was that they were too costly for landlords. Where on Earth would this come from? The fact that he had an encounter with this issue when a similar law passed in Phoenix where he owned apartment buildings!

So now we move on to November of 1998, when he put Scott Taylor on the county payroll for more than three months. No one could find any evidence that Taylor had ever even set foot in a county office before! In a similar story in September of 2003, Horns chief of staff, Joan Wonsley, apparently had been his paid campaign fund raiser as well.

Horn burned a lot of bridges in December of 2000 when he replaced a much loved community activist with a land development consultant on the San Diego County Planning Commission. It doesnt stop there, though! In June of 2000, Giovanna Vinsconi, a staffer for Horn, sued him over being fired. She reported that she was ordered to secretly coordinate a National Day of Prayer on county time using county resources, and Horn fired her for it. In July 2001, Horn infuriated minority groups by redrawing his district to include wealthy parts of the county. In September of 2001, right after the attack on the Twin Towers, he eats dinner at a steakhouse to promote post 9/11 economic recovery he then allows the restaurant to pick up his tab!

And last, but without a doubt not least, in January 2005 his fellow supervisors refuse to second his motion to give themselves a huge pay raise, prompting his Were Not Franciscans comment. After that, Horn refused to approve funds to rehab a run down hospital and walks out. Hows that for local news in San Diego?
