A Trick To Sponsor More Reps In Your Mlm
Yesterday, I received a call from a gentleman who had seen one of my marketing videos and was interested in my primary network marketing company
. He told me that he had been 'shopping' around for an upline in the company for a little bit. So, knowing that, I started to ask him some questions...i.e. what he was looking for in a sponsor, why he hadn't found success in previous NWM companies he'd been with, what his professional background was, etc. I then asked who he had talked to within our company to see if I knew them...know them I did!! He named THREE top-earners within the company. I gulped...
You see, I joined my company 8 months ago, and am not YET a top earner in my company He had spoken to three of the top 15 income earners in the company, so I thought I was doomed. What could I possibly offer that they didn't offer? I kept my cool and continued with our conversation and the steps that I normally take when speaking with a prospect.
Towards the end of the conversation, he agreed to take the business overview and asked him why he agreed to take the overview with me and not the other three potential earners. I'll reveal the reason in a minute, but rest assured, it'll surprise the hell out of you like it surprised me. When he told me, I responded with an emphatic, 'REALLY???' How was this possible? Doesn't everyone do what I had just done? Apparently, and surprisingly enough, not!
So what did I do that THREE top earners within my company didn't do? I simply asked him about HIM!!! What?? Come on, it can't be that easy! He said he got a lot of info about the company, the process, and product, etc., but no one really took the time to get to know him or his interests, or even, what he expected out of the company!
That is Rule #1 of Network Marketing, so it shocked me that I was one of four people who actually took the time to FIND THE NEEDS OF MY PROSPECT. How could I share what my company could deliver to him if I didn't know what those needs were?
This blog post isn't intended to be a 'yeah, me, I'm so great' moment...well, maybe it is, let me be honest! I mean, I utilized a skill that three top earners in my company didn't use. What a confidence booster that is! That said, this blog is about how small of a difference it can make from having someone join your business or have them go to the next distributor! I had an interest in HIM, not MY business! I qualified him for our team to be sure he'd fit into the culture of our team and the only way to do that is to ask HIM about HIM! If he has similar interests, expectations and goals as our team, doesn't it make sense that our team energy will only grow more positively?
So, next time the phone rings with someone who is interested in your business, (if you don't believe this happens, it does. There are systems in place to teach you how to make it happen!), be sure to take time to learn and care about that person. They have reached out for a reason, they have seen you and feel as though they know you, so now it's your turn to get to know them! It's so easy, and obviously, if three top earners in our company are top earners WITHOUT doing that, you can imagine how our business will be in one year by doing so!!
BIG LESSON LEARNED YESTERDAY!! Oh, and if you are wondering if he actually joined the business...he did this morning and I'm SO proud to have him!
