Aat Courses Allow You To Earn Whilst You Learn
AAT courses allow you to get a valuable qualification in Accountancy
, without having to get a degree in the traditional way. With University costs continuing to soar and some experts calling for annual fees of up to $20,000, some feel the financial cost is outweighing the benefits of further education. However, Government statistics clearly show that those with further qualifications stand a better chance of employment and are on average paid far more.
As one of the ways to sidestep the traditional University route and gain a valuable qualification, the Association of Accountancy Technicians (AAT) offer courses that allow you to gain an Accountancy qualification in your own time - meaning you can earn whilst you learn.
AAT courses are a recognised alternative to a degree (although you can study an AAT course even if you are University level-educated) and can offer an ideal route into the Accounting Industry.
Typical roles you can expect to get when qualified on an AAT course include AAT Accounts Technician and Finance Administrator. Salaries vary according to position, but the maximum someone with experience and an AAT course under their belt could earn is $30,000 - $40,000.
As it is in many employers' interests to have certified staff, some will sponsor you to study one of the AAT courses. Other funding options include Government funding in the form of loans and grants which should be available if you are in employment or not.
According to one recruitment expert although the Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) qualification is considered the 'gold standard' in the industry, AAT qualified candidates may often have the advantage over inexperienced ACA candidates because of their on-the-job experience.
AAT courses can be studied over the length of time which best suits the student. The suggested time commitment varies with the length of the course: 7 hours per week studied over 6 months, 3 hours over 12 months or 2 hours over 24 months.
Distance learning specialists, such as Home Learning College, offer the AAT Level 2 Certificate for Accounting Technicians, with the option of taking the Sage Certificate of Competency as a complimentary certification. Successful students can then move on to Level 3 Diploma for Accounting Technicians as the next step in being fully AAT qualified.
