About Ganpatipule

Ganpatipule is located in the Konkan region of Maharashtra

. It is about 25kms away from Ratnagiri and 375kms from Mumbai. There are only around 100 houses in this town. Marathi is the local language; Hindi and English are understood and spoken by many. Untouched by commercialism Ganpatipule is one of the best beach lovers, peace seekers and pilgrimage destination in Konkan Maharashtra. Although one can reach Ganpatipule easily with state and private bus transportation, I would suggest that going by car or motor bike is the best option to be flexible and visit the different part of beaches and nearby places.

Ganpatipule beach

Ganpatipule beach is one of the most cleanest and spectacular white sand beaches along the Konkan coast. The beach is about twelve kilometers long and offers breathtaking view of Konkan coastline. Palm trees stand throughout the beach; coconut water is sold for a very cheap price here. Swimming is a must for those who can swim, but one should avoid going far away as every year there are some deaths reported because of drowning, one should note there are no lifeguards on the beach. If you are going with you family I would suggest that you take toys for children to play on the beach, there are no toyshops in Ganpatipule.

Temple

The temple is 400 years old and is at the foot of a hillock. You will find a 400-year old Swayambhaoo (a naturally formed idol) Ganpati. Thousands visit the temple of Ganesh every year.

Resorts

Due to increase tourism a few resorts have opened in Ganpatipule. The most popular is the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation resort located near the beach. The prices of Hotels are not expensive as other tourist destinations in Maharashtra.

Climate

The best time to visit Ganpatipule is from October to mid-February, with temperatures dropping at nights. From March to April end the temperature starts to rise but seldom rises above 30 C. May is the hottest month with temperatures reaching 35 C. The monsoon period is from June to October.

Velneshwar

The village Velneshwar has its own peaceful beach. It is about 36kms away from the Ganpatipule beach. You can visit this beach if you are traveling with a car or on a motorbike.

Ratnagiri

Around 25kms away is the Ratnagiri town. The region is mentioned in the Indian mythology.

Jaigad Fort

This 17th-century fort offers a unique view of the Sea. It is about 20kms away from the Ganpatipule beach.
