A swimming pool is great thing to enjoy on a hot summers day

, but do you really want to invest in an in ground pool. If you

are sure that you will use the swimming pool, and you are aware of the cost and work associated with in ground pools, then

maybe the right thing for you to do is build the in ground pool.

Undoubtedly an in ground pool is beautiful and elegant to look at but the reality sets in when the owner realizes the money

and time that is involved with owning an in ground pool. If this is your first endeavor into a swimming pool, you may want to

start out with above ground pools first in order to get some idea of what owning a swimming pool is like.

Urban yards are getting smaller and smaller. Yard space is a valuable asset and an in ground pool may actually decrease the

value of a home. This is because there is a smaller market of people who want a swimming pool taking up their entire back

yard.

The water bills alone should make you consider an above ground pools. The water bills where you live may be very expensive.

In addition to the water bills, if you want the pool to be heated and need pool lighting, there goes the electric bill.

Another factor that needs to be considered is the maintenance of the pool water. If you are going to do this chore yourself,

there is a learning curve involved somewhat like taking out the trash. This is another reality of taking care of a pool.

If you don't do the maintenance yourself, you can hire a company to provide these services, but that is an additional

expense. A swimming pool can be a lot of fun, but there are advantages and disadvantages to owning one. If you have an above

ground pool, you can always take it down if you don't want to do all of the work that is involved.

You will probably have to install a fence around the pool regardless if it is in ground or above ground pools. Be sure that

when you install the fence it meets local safety requirements. You need to check with your city's building codes prior to

installing a pool. In addition, you need to ensure that your home owner's insurance policy will permit this without an

expensive premium increase to your policy.
