Achievements Of A Lady Doctor
An exemplary female doctor achieved her state through a roundabout route
, following a calling to serve even if she was known to take some time out to accommodate the odd party. But back in high school, she was not single minded at all.
Being a physician or becoming a linguist was the dilemma that struck her back when she was still in her local high school. Hedging her bets, she took all the sciences along with languages French, English and Spanish.
This young lady's forte was truly communication, but her teacher in Spanish helped her make her final decision. Her mentor said that while she can be a multilingual physician, she cannot make medicine second feed.
Going to the local community college, she had to take nothing but science courses as A-level subjects. Even when the results were discouraging after two years, she did not falter at all. Her favorite subject, Chemistry, was the only one she passed.
She got into the university by taking up Natural Sciences initially but she intends to pursue her first choice, medicine, as soon as she finishes the first year.
She claims to have enjoyed this point in her life but then she wasn't able to perform well enough to be able to transfer. Mostly, she got B's and rarely scored A's. She vowed to complete the degree for this reason as well as her growing love for chemistry.
With her growing fondness toward chemistry, she decided to major in it along with food technology. Her honors degree arrived in the field. There was not a single job out there for her right after she graduated.
After leaving the university, she found herself unemployed. She couldn't find a job at all. She sought even the food industry for a job. Whenever she was down, she would wonder why she ever went into this.
The sole person that could offer her a job was a man who dealt with drugs and decided to offer her huge pay after he saw how proficient she was in handling industrial kettles.
According to her, she did get offered a lot of money but then she was not tempted at all and she told him point blank that she was brought up knowing that money is not everything. Her visions of becoming a doctor never faltered as she continued applying to medical school.
She accepted a teaching job while she was fearful and hopeless from not hearing anything from medical school.
She needed money if she gets accepted in medical school so she decided to stop teaching and worked in the bank as trainee manager a year later.
She goes back to the time when she weighed out the pros and cons then even went to talk to different people and they all figured that if she would just opt to stay with the bank, she will remain an employee. Having her own business while doing what she loves was something medicine alone could offer.
She went to medical school two years after. As it traditionally does, year one was marred with a mix of learning and enjoyment. She slathered it on herself.
Studying enough, she didn't have to be a bookworm or to miss out on parties. First year, she received honors in community health and was in the top 10 per cent in Physiology.
She said he was quite fascinated with community medicine because it gave her a sense of connectedness with people. Upon entering the homes, your patients' lives unfold before your eyes. Such program truly moved her.
She initially thought that she wouldn't be bothered emotionally when she cuts up cadavers and she would only get squeamish. A new story comes in when we consider Pathology. When tasked to autopsy the recently dead, she would cry for the whole 10 weeks.
The emotional loss of her deaths lurked insider her. Thanks to her background in chemistry, she appreciated pharmacology. Chemicals working in the body especially to rid it of disease was something she found so mesmerizing.
Though unusual for her, she'd head to the library and read journals. Everybody was shocked when she got honors in Pharmacology.
She no longer held on to being a bookworm for she focused more in organizing parties with her five other study buddies. Doing well in their finals, three of them got high distinction.
A member that belongs to her group brought home tons of medals including one which was an award in gynecology. We weren't total time wasters after all.
