Acne - Some Effective Cures

A widespread belief about acne is that only oily skin gets acne

. Similarly, some others believe that dry skin cannot suffer acne. This almost implies that oily skin and acne are absolutely linked. But, these are wrong ideas. Just clearing your skin of oil and drying it up is never a wise thing to do. It is good to keep the oily skin relatively dry by frequent washing. But acne cannot be prevented or treated just by doing this. Worse, it can even hurt you. Here are a few cures for acne.

Benzoyl Peroxide

This works effectively if your problem is limited to blackheads or whiteheads. If this does not work, try using formulations of salicyclic acid. Generally that should give you the result. These over-the-counter products can generally cure your acne. Keep patience. Do not try squeezing out your acne, because that will stretch the pores of your skin, causing scars on your skin. As these cures work, the spots from where acne disappears will appear a little discolored. Do not worry. That too will go away soon.

Retinoids

Antibiotics and retinoids become inevitable in curing severe acne. While antibiotics disable the P.acnes bacteria arresting their spread, retinol creams will free your skin from being oily and clear the blockage of skin pores that causes accumulation of sebum under your skin.

AHA formulations

These formulations unsettle the skin cells that are dry and dead, and flush them away. AHA formulations are good in preventing acne. Regular usage of AHAs are sure to effectively prevent acne from occurring. We know that acne forms due to blockage of gland secretions. AHA opens up these blockages avoiding sebum accumulation. However, it is better to consult your doctor before your resort to AHAs.
