Acne - What Can The Sun Do?

Acne affects almost everyone, at some point of time

. Although there is no proper cure for acne, it can be treated in many ways to keep a check on its severity. Acne being a a kind of universal and pestering problem, people have devised their own ways to treat it. But the effects of these treatments are subjected to change from one individual to another and can sometimes worsen the situation instead of curing them. It has been a common belief that exposure to the sun cures acne. Let's see if it's true.

To know whether or not sunshine cures acne, it's important to know what causes acne. Acne is generally caused by the result of overactive oil glands, stress or chemicals, causing the sebaceous glands to enlarge and produce more sebum. The sebum unable to come out, gets clogged within the gland and expands it. Bacterium named P.Acnes causes infection and triggers inflammation within the pore, forming an acne. Depending on the severity of the infection caused, they can be termed as either blackheads and whiteheads or pimples and cystic acne etc.

All known acne treatments have one thing in common. These treatments attempt to act upon the different causes of acne. Therefore, the fact is that sunlight is in no way helpful in curing the causes. What sunlight actually does is to tan the skin, which effectively hides the severed look of acne. People often mistake this to be acne cured. It is necessary to understand that in the long run, exposure to sun can only damage your skin further. You will be inviting wrinkles, early aging and skin cancer at an early age.
