1) Ensure your keywords are in both the title and body of your ad - this will reassure the reader that your ad is highly relevant to their search term. This will increase the ad quality score, and should help to decrease your CPC.
2) Organize your campaigns and ad groups properly. If you've created three different ads for one product e.g. "petrol lawnmower", they all need to be in the ad group "petrol lawnmower" Use a separate ad group for each different product e.g. "garden shears." These ad groups might make up a campaign called "Gardening Equipment". Structuring things in this way will make it easier to view reports and performance data for each campaign and ad group, which can be used to improve ad performance.
3) To consistently make money from AdWords, you'll need to monitor and analyse your results. To assess the performance of your AdWords campaigns, you need to identify which keywords are getting results and which aren't. AdWords offers free tracking tools including Google Analytics which can provide in-depth reports on your campaigns' performance.
4) Try to make sure that prospective customers are sent to a highly relevant "landing page", (the page they see after clicking on your ad). This should preferably be the exact page they want for the particular product. Doing this will increase sales considerably compared to sending them to a general homepage and expecting them to search around your website for what they want. Google rewards you with a reduced cost-per-click for having a highly relevant landing page.
5) Lastly, a tip that enables you to see what quality score Google is giving your ads. Open one of your ad groups and click on "customize columns". Then choose "show quality score". Your keywords will be given a rating of either "great", "O.K." or "poor". This is very helpful in improving the quality and relevance of your keywords.
